Alisa in Warland

Alisa begins filming the war in Ukraine since the outbreak in 2014. She encounters shootings, explosions and other consequences of the war. In the east of the country, she encounters demonstrations of pro-Russians. She is captured by separatists for espionage. The documentary focuses amongst others on Alisa’s sexual violence experience during the war in the Donbas.
Alisa in Warland is the journey and personal diary of a Ukrainian girl and documentary filmmaker confronted with the same choices and dilemmas as those of her countrymen and -women when personal life meets history.
