Living Against All Odds- Women’s Stories of War, 2014 and 2022  

Three members of SEMA Ukraine, Halyna Tyshchenko, Olena Apchel, and Iryna Dovhan, contributed their testimonies to the powerful book Living Against All Odds: Women’s Stories of War, 2014 and 2022. 

This publication brings together the voices of 11 Ukrainian women from diverse regions and professions, who share their lived experiences of war from 2014 to 2022. With honesty and courage, the authors write about life under Russian occupation, the loss of loved ones, property, and health, captivity, and experiences of sexual and gender-based violence. 

More than a collection of testimonies, the book is a source of strength for others enduring the trauma of war. It highlights what helped each woman endure and what continues to sustain them. The final chapter, written by a psychologist, offers insights into healing and recovery. 

Living Against All Odds is dedicated to all Ukrainians navigating the pain of war and seeking examples of resilience, solidarity, and hope.
