Stigma

Survivors experience stigma in many ways as a result of sexual violence: from explicit and intentional isolation from loved ones and family to whispers and insults from community members on the street. While each experience is unique, this immersive piece was designed by the survivors to give participants a general sense of what stigma is like based on their own experiences. Stigma is not only created by external forces, but also by internal forces: in this piece, we also hear the internal voice of the survivors, a force that can be just as stigmatising.
