Description
Tamboreras del Cauca is a group of 46 women who survived the armed conflict and turned to art for individual and collective healing. They attended healing and emotional recovery workshops in order to create a collective memory with the construction of sound drums, with specific purposes, such as forgiveness, reconciliation, love and healing, in the search for non-repetition. The project “Drums That Speak Out, Bodies That Express Threads of Life” (Tambores que Claman, Cuerpos que Expresan Hilos de Vida) served as both an expression of voice and a memorial for these women. Each woman crafted her own drum, contributing to emotional relief and remembrance.
This performance is a collective memory initiative that addresses the life experiences recounted by women survivors of the internal armed conflict in Colombia. It comprises five acts that represent different cycles in their lives: Chaos, Transition, Internal Medicine, Birth, and Lineage.
