Trans-Border Rape

The documentary Trans-Border Rape, produced by SEMA’s partner organisation in Libya, Al Marsed (Observatory on Gender in Crisis), explores the experiences of West African women and girls who face sexual violence during migration journeys through North Africa, particularly while waiting to cross to Italy. The documentary features accounts from survivors based in Libya and Italy, some of whom are now supported in specialised centres for victims of trafficking. It aims to document their experiences, highlight their resilience, and raise awareness of the specific risks faced by women in transit contexts. Due to confidentiality concerns, the documentary is not publicly available. However, those interested in learning more or connecting with the producers are welcome to reach out.
