Katumu Macauley, a survivor and a SEMA member from Liberia, shares her story of being a child soldier in the hope of helping others like her confront their difficult past and find the courage to build a successful future. Katumu transformed her experiences as a former child soldier into a strong commitment to healing, advocacy, and justice.
In 2010, Katumu published Diary of a Child Soldier, a 19-page book that provided a raw and personal account of her journey.
Katumu passed away in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of courage and hope. SEMA has honoured her memory on the Remembrance Page of the Virtual Memorial, ensuring that her story continues to inspire survivors and advocates around the world.
