In Remembrance

Katumu Faith Macauley, a SEMA member from Liberia, was a survivor of the Liberian Civil War. Who transformed her experiences as a former child soldier into a strong commitment to healing, advocacy, and justice. As part of SEMA, Katumu participated in global retreats in Geneva and The Hague, sharing her story and representing survivors with courage and dignity.

Katumu’s journey was remarkable. From her early days as a participant in THINK Liberia’s rehabilitation program to becoming the Chief of Security for her mentor, she demonstrated determination and dedication to service. She was among the first to publicly apologise for her role during the Liberian Civil War, boldly paving the way for reconciliation. She also contributed her creative talents as one of the rappers in SEMA’s “Little Bird” song, carrying messages of hope and resilience through her voice.

Her story, immortalised in “The Diary of a Child Soldier,” continues to inspire those who hear it. As a leader of the Liberia Survivor Group, Katumu brought her vibrant energy and commitment to her work, leaving a lasting impact within the SEMA network and beyond.

SEMA recognises Katumu’s significant contributions and honours the legacy she leaves behind.

We at SEMA will always remember her. Rest in power, dear Katumu.
